Tips and Recommendations

Fresh, healthy soup...by Soupergirl

Jeremiah Baronberg recommends...

Soupergirl, based in Washington, DC and shipping nationwide across the U.S.—creating fresh, delicious homemade soups from all natural, plant-based, seasonal and local ingredients.

Featured recently on The Today Show and Shark Tank, this start-up business was founded by a mother-daughter duo and inspired by Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and its call for real, responsible food that supports local farms.

Don’t miss their wide variety of seasonal recipes—like Roasted Pumpkin Bisque in the fall and Root Vegetable in the winter. Once summer rolls around, the bottled cold gazpachos—watermelon, beet, and tomato—are otherworldy!

Soupergirl, 314 Carroll Street and 1829 M Street, NW, Washington, DC, sold in Costco and Whole Foods, and shipping nationwide
Parisian 'neo-bistro'...
near the Champs-Élysées

Mathilde Defarges recommends...

Le Mermoz, a 1920s style French bistro preserving the historic atmosphere of this former wine merchant in Paris' 8th arrondissement.

Chef Manon Fleury—who trained at L’Astrance and worked at Couillon in Noirmoutier, Sémilla in Paris, and with Dan Barber of Blue Hill famecreates a weekly-changing menu described by one diner as "like bouquets of delicacies...
seasonal and reasonably priced."

Enjoy their delightful amuse-bouche at lunchtime and tapas-style plates for dinner, together with a fantastic wine selection.
